High-dose Ascorbic Acid Infusions
May 1, 2024
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, gained significant attention following its advocacy by Dr. Linus Pauling. Renowned for its immune-boosting properties, Vitamin C acts as a free radical scavenger and antioxidant, mitigating oxidative stress triggered by inflammatory responses to infections. It plays a pivotal role in enhancing the immune system’s ability to combat infections, being 80 times more concentrated in white blood cells than in other bodily tissues. Moreover, Vitamin C promotes the production of interferon and hampers viral replication by disrupting viral DNA/RNA synthesis. In laboratory settings, Vitamin C has demonstrated the ability to neutralize various toxins, ranging from snake venom to heavy metals, pesticides, cyanide, alcohol, and carbon monoxide.
While conventional wisdom once suggested that high oral doses of Vitamin C could aid in illness recovery, research indicates limited oral absorption, with the body efficiently absorbing only up to 500mg orally, and the excess being excreted. In contrast, intravenous administration of Vitamin C achieves nearly complete absorption without the risk of kidney stone formation associated with oral intake.
High-dose intravenous Vitamin C has shown promising results in improving and facilitating recovery from various illnesses, including Lyme disease, Epstein-Barr virus (mononucleosis), herpes (including shingles and chickenpox), West Nile virus, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), Alzheimer’s disease, Crohn’s disease, polio, diphtheria, measles, mumps, viral pneumonia, and cancer.
